Ryan Kurr was born in the Midwest and grew up in various cities in Minnesota. He has what seems to be an insatiable case of wanderlust and has lived in the Twin Cities, San Francisco, Edinburgh and Reykjavik. He grew up dreaming to have a career in film while writing short stories, poetry and directing short films from a very young age. It wasn't until he began working on a short story for co-workers in 2003, when the story soon took on a life much larger than he imagined. He relocated to San Francisco in 2004 and over the next five years he continued to write, revise and edit what is now his first novel, "Living Still Life." He worked for an insurance company during the day and enrolled in evening massage therapy classes. When he graduated from school and became a certified Massage Therapist, he left the insurance job and jumped into the bodywork profession. By late 2007 he grew anxious and hungry for a new life, a new city and an environment outside of the US. He relocated to Iceland to continue working as a Massage Therapist. In the summer of 2008, he began working on ideas for his next novel. With a solid working title, he finished the first draft in six weeks.

Ryan likes to dabble in many things. He has been a Teen Abstinence Facilitator, owner and operator of a production company and is a practicing Massage Therapist and applied Reiki Master. Ryan believes that life is a constantly shifting pattern of growth. With a strong interest in the culinary arts, film-making, art and holistic health, he is constantly in search of new cultures and experiences for inspiration."
